Still to this day the biggest alligator gar ever caught by rod and reel to be officially recognized by the IGFA is the catch from all the way back in 1951 which weighed in at 279 lbs. Back in 2011 in the state of Mississipi there was a catch made by net of an huge alligator gar fish. This was the largest alligator gar ever caught by net, this specimen weighed in a 327 lbs, this was a world record alligator gar for this method of catch. But never made it into the IGFA records because of this method, here is a picture of huge alligator gar fish caught on this day.
Most Massive Biggest Alligator Gar Fish Ever to be Recorded
In 1991 a alligator gar fish measuring 9 feet and 6 inches length was caught, it weighed in at 365 lbs! This is by far the biggest alligator gar ever caught and recorded in history. But there is some murkiness as to how exactly it was caught, I have been told it was actually caught by rod and reel but for whatever reason never made it into the IGFA alligator gar world records for all tackle. However there is no doubt from the picture of this catch below very few if any alligator gar fish ever caught can compare with this beast. I just hope there are more of these monsters out there so a new biggest alligator gar ever caught can be made and push the alligator gar world records even further.
